About Capitalizing Each Word

Capitalize Each Word makes the first letter of every word uppercase, with no exceptions for articles, conjunctions, or prepositions. Unlike Title Case, it does not apply grammar rules — every word is treated the same. That uniformity makes it ideal for names, form labels, and any list where you want completely consistent capitalization regardless of a word’s grammatical role.

Before and After

Input: john of the valley

Output: John Of The Valley

Common Use Cases

  • Names and proper nouns — Capitalize first, middle, and last names uniformly, including short connectors that Title Case would lowercase.
  • Form field labels — Produce consistent labels such as "First Name" and "Date Of Birth" across a form.
  • Tags and categories — Give every word in a tag or category label the same capital-first appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose this over Title Case?

Use Capitalize Each Word when you want every single word capitalized, including "of", "the", and "and". Title Case intentionally leaves those minor words lowercase in the middle of a title.

How does it decide where a word starts?

A new word begins after a space or other whitespace, so the first letter following each space is capitalized.

Does it change letters inside a word?

No. The first letter of each word is capitalized and the remaining letters are lowercased.
